I need recommendations on well written horror films or suspense films of the last decade or so. English language thrillers preferred.

This decade has been definitely been the 80's all over again, from fashion to music- even film. There's been a rebirth of independent films and studios like there had been in the 80's. There was also a huge horror movie boom. The sad part is that there's too much commercialism in movie studios today and they are out to collect rather than entertain. The easiest way they achieve this is by remaking movies that studios already own the rights to. A huge percent of the horror movies that have been produced this decade are remakes, from Texas Chainsaw Massacre to The Hills Have Eyes (yes- it's a remake). I was saddened to see that one of my all time favorite horror movies, Black Christmas, was remade and I cringe at the thought of my beloved Evil Dead will be redone as well. Very sad. But there have been a few excellent original films. Best that come to mind are:

28 Days Later (Directed by Danny Boyle of Slumdog Millionare fame)
Shaun Of The Dead
Grindhouse

Wow... That's a short list. They just don't make 'em like they used to...
