Art of Edo Japan: The Artist and the City 1615-1868 Reviews
This beautifully illustrated survey examines the art and artists of the Edo period, one of the great epochs in Japanese art. Together with the imperial city of Kyoto and the port cities of Osaka and Nagasaki, the splendid capital city of Edo (now Tokyo) nurtured a magnificent tradition of painting, calligraphy, printmaking, ceramics, architecture, textile work, and lacquer. As each city created its own distinctive social, political, and economic environment, its art acquired a unique flavor and aesthetic. Author Christine Guth focuses on the urban aspects of Edo art, including discussions of many of Japan’s most popular artists—Korin, Utamaro, and Hiroshige, among others—as well as those that are lesser known, and provides a fascinating look at the cities in which they worked.
Pieta Martinelli's sister is getting married. Since she is a bridal designer it falls to her to make the wedding gown. But Pieta is distracted by a series of unanswered questions. Why is her father feuding with another Italian in the neighborhood? Why is her mother so faded and sad? And could the man she's always held a torch for really be getting married to someone else? As Pieta stitches and beads her sister's wedding gown she uncovers the secrets that have made her family what it is and that stand between her and happiness. The Italian Wedding is a feast of food and love. It's about discovering who your parents really are. And who you really want to be.

Most Ghanaians practice one of the Judeo-Christian faiths, where a deity of Middle Eastern origin is presented as the omnipotent creator of the universe, and his subordinate human agencies are touted as the saviors of mankind, and messengers of the final fate of all humans upon death, as well as the final status of the universe itself when time and space are brought to a conclusion by this ...

TIFTON â€" What then? “I was wondering, do rugged individualists always manage to save enough money for retirement without Social Security? And how about medical insurance? When they get old and sick, can they still afford private insurance? Can they even get it?
Residuary Legatee is the title given by the author to her role as Headmaster's wife at two well known Midland public schools. The title encompasses the multitude of jobs the author was expected to take on which included help with the annual school play, large scale housekeeping and the entertaining of important guests, together with more unusual tasks such as cooking dinner for the entire school when neither the cook nor the catering assistants turned up for work. The author's description of the characters she met along the way together with her tales of a generation of youngsters for whom she acted as a stand in mother make for interesting and amusing reading.
