Achievement is not always success while reputed failure often is. It is honest endeavor, persistent effort to do the best possible under any and all
circumstances.

My unbelievably hard-working roommate Rosa. Quite literally one who works until she drops.

This photograph, attributed to John Warwick Brooke, shows a detachment walking over a plank bridge carrying the picks and shovels they used for digging trenches. Work at night not only hindered the enemy from seeing what was being done, but also allowed the men relative safety moving to and from the trenches in the dark.

An officer of the Gordon Highlanders wrote in 1917, 'My men are out digging - which I hate, because its very tiring and means they must sleep in the day - so it knocks all training...on the head'.

[Original reads: 'OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPH TAKEN ON THE BRITISH WESTERN FRONT IN FRANCE. A working party returning from their night's work. Most work or improvement is done at night so that the enemy cannot observe.']
